Pakistan believes in minimum credible deterrence for peace
Islamabad, Sept 5 PPI: Pakistan is a peace loving country which believes in maintaining minimum credible deterrence for ensuring durable peace and stability in the region, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said.
Talking to Naval Chief Admiral Mohammad Afzal Tahir on Friday, he said Pakistan's
defence policy is based on peaceful coexistence in conformity with prevailing
geo-strategic environment and national aspirations.
He emphasized economic importance of sea routes and said Pakistan Navy has an
important role to play in protecting sealanes and routes besides coastline of the
country.
Admiral Tahir said Pakistan Navy is fully capable of defending the country's waters
and stands fully prepared to face any challenge.
