Thai Ministry of Labour delivers alien-worker-control policy
BANGKOK, May 12 (TNA) - The Ministry of Labour’s Permanent Secretary Somkiat Chayasriwong presided over the meeting on alien-worker control on Thursday. The meeting came as a result of a cabinet resolution passed on 26 April, which endorses a new round of a registration of alien workers from Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia.
Participants at the meeting included directors of Bangkok Employment Office areas 1-10 and officials of all Provincial Employment Offices nationwide.
At the conference, the Permanent Secretary called for closer cooperation from agencies on the control of alien employment and tackling labour trafficking. He said that they shall also spread the word of a new round of alien worker registration to employers and workplaces to help them better understand the registration process.
Somkiat said that after the registration the Department of Employment will cooperate with relevant agencies to launch a crackdown operation on illegal foreign workers. (TNA)
