Kim Jong Il urges efforts to develop fish farming in N Korea
PYONGYANG, May 12 (Itar-Tass) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Il has
visited the Kujang fish farm in the North Pyongan (Pyongan-pukto) province
with an inspection. The North's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA)
reported on Thursday that the head of state said that this profitable farm
with modern equipment supplies the population with high-calorie and fresh
fish products in accordance with the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea
(WPK).
The Chairman of the National Defence Commission considers it necessary
to exert efforts for the development of fisheries, focusing on recent
advances in science and technology. According to him, fish farming should
be "turned into a mass movement in North Korea, given its rich water
resources, including seas and numerous lakes and rivers."
The DPRK leader, who was accompanied by a large group of party
workers, set to the fish farm workers the task to increase fish production
so that "the population of the country as soon as possible could get
enough of this product."
