Nujeifi meets with Salihi
Baghdad (NINA) - Osama Al Nujeifi, Parliament Speaker pointed out to the possibility that Iran plays an important role in the stability of the region and give a message of reassurance in establishing peace in it.
A statement issued by the office of Nujeifi quoted him as saying, during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, and the accompanying delegation "Iraq and Iran share historical and geographical ties."
He stressed "the importance of strengthening relations between the two neighboring countries on the trust and mutual respect basis."
The statement added that the two sides discussed the latest developments in the region and intensifying joint efforts that would serve the region's security and stability.
The meeting also addressed the work of the joint committees to resolve issues related to sharing of water and borders.
