Thailand to become leader in CSR in ASEAN

BANGKOK, May 11 (TNA) - In welcoming the planned ASEAN integration in 2015, Thailand’s Ministry of Social Development and Human Security along with public and private sectors executives, released a joint statement to promote Thailand as a leading practitioner in corporate social responsibility (CSR) within ASEAN.

A recent seminar, 'CSR Roadmap: Thailand to ASEAN', took place in Bangkok, in a bid to encourage the participation of high and mid-level business executives to aid development of new CSR initiatives that reach out to the community.

Concluding the event, action plans for the year ahead have been adopted as 150 participants pledge to upgrade their communities and help people live higher quality lives. Campaigns to promote greater awareness of CSR will constantly be set up to brand Thailand as the leading CSR practitioner within ASEAN.

Currently, Thailand’s CSR Club is the country’s representative to the ASEAN CSR Network founded in 2010. To become fully engaged in the network’s missions, President of CSR Club, Wattana Opanon-amata, said support from the government would be essential, as it would help to power sustainable growth not only in Thailand but within the whole ASEAN community.
