Sahiwal citizens take to streets against load shedding
Sahiwal, May 09, 2011 (PPI): Hundreds of residents of Ghalla Mandi, Peoples Colony, Rehmani Colony and Dispensary Road took to streets last night and blocked the road for over three hours setting the old tyres on fire near Southern gate of Ghalla Mandi (grain market) opposite a seminary Jamia Rushdia to lodge protest against prolonged power outages.
The protesters blocked the road from 10.30p.m to 1.30a.m and continued chanting slogans against WAPDA. They alleged the WAPDA officials of supplying electricity to the factories against payment of commission while cut the power supply to residential areas for over 18 hours.
