Situation in border town Aranyaprathet remains normal

ARANYAPRATHET, May 9 (TNA) - The situation at the Thai-Cambodian border town here remains normal but the number of Thai tourists at Angkor Wat has dropped rapidly.
Pol Lt-Col Benjapol Rodsawas, deputy immigration police chief in the Thai border province of Sa Kaeo disclosed on Monday that the situation at the border town remains ordered since there has been a constant flow of Khmer merchants, with around 10,000 crossing the border to Rong Kluea Market on a daily basis.
However, there have been far fewer Thai tourists visiting Cambodia, while around 90% have cancelled or delayed plans to visit the temple of Angkor Wat.
Meanwhile, Commander of Thai Army Ranger Company 1206, Chan Wongwaimethee has dispatched officials to closely monitor areas along Thai-Cambodian border in a bid to prevent misunderstandings that might lead to clashes between Thai and Cambodian officials. (TNA)
