Thailand-EU agree on personnel development for advanced production
BANGKOK, May 9 (TNA) - Thailand and the European Union have agreed to jointly produce over 20,000 experts on engineering design in order to advance production. The project will enhance the industrial competitiveness of Thailand.
The National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office (STI) and the European Manufacturing and Innovation Research Association (EMIRAcle), a network under the European Union’s covering the leading universities of over 20 European countries, signed an agreement to jointly enhance designing capability for production and innovation.
The experts produced will then help develop Thailand move on from just manufacturing products to being able to develop its own products, especially those of the electronic, automotive and textile industries, all of which are subject to fierce competition in the global markets. Thailand will benefit from the project because it can reduce the import of and dependence on overseas technologies and become an exporter of technologies in the future.
The project includes the exchange of engineering designers between Thailand and member states of the European Union and increased support for those pursuing master’s and doctorate degrees and training in relevant fields as well as the networking of expertise. (TNA)
