PEACE AND STABILITY MUST BE ENSURED IN REGION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, MAMMADYAROV

Baku,4 September,(AzerTAj)Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said peace and stability must be ensured in the region as soon as possible.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday, he told them Azerbaijan supports talks between
the region`s countries concerning a suggestion to form a Caucasian Union, which was
put forward by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Mammadyarov described Turkey`s move as a step forward towards ensuring peace and
stability in the region.
The FM reiterated Azerbaijan`s stance on regional conflicts, including the
Nagorno-Karabakh one, saying they must be solved in accordance with international
legal norms.
Concerning Nagorno-Karabakh peace talks, Mammadyarov said the next meeting of the
Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers is due to be held this month, and that
the exact time and venue of the meeting will be announced by co-chairs of the OSCE
Minsk Group.
