Qatar Backs Arab & International Efforts in Support of Libyan People


Cairo, May 08 (QNA) - The Qatari delegation participating in the meeting of the Arab and international representatives of humanitarian and relief organizations, held at the Arab League headquarters on Sunday for following up the implementation of the recommendations of the "rapid humanitarian response in Libya and neighboring countries," which was held on March 24 in Cairo said that the State of Qatar has contributed significantly to evacuating the injured for treatment and the establishment of camps on the Tunisia - Libya border.
Qatar also contributed to the repatriation of refugees to their country of different nationalities, the delegation said.
Ahmed Abdullah Al Mulla, Acting Director of associations and institutions at the Ministry of Social Affairs said the Qatari associations and national institutions were working widely in the support of the Libyan people through workshops, relief development plans.
He expressed hope that improvement in the status quo in order to accelerate the implementation of development plans and construction of projects that meet the needs of people in all affected countries.
For his part, Abdul Latif Al-Abdullah, Director of International Health relations at the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) said that Qatar was among the leading countries in support of Libya, where it has sent several campaigns of aid to help the Libyan people, including medicines, medical equipment, and doctors and called on the meeting of Arab Ministers of Health in Beirut last March to send a convoy in collaboration with Arab League to Libya.
The Arab countries unanimously approved $ 100,000 in aid, he added. (QNA)
