Editor of Avar version of Assalam paper, police killed in Dagestan

MAKHACHKALA, May 9 (Itar-Tass) -- The editor of the Avar language
version of the Dagestani newspaper Yakhya Magomedov was killed in the
village of Kokrek in the Khasavyurt region of the Russian North Caucasus
republic under unclear circumstances on Sunday evening. "The murder was
committed at about 11 p.m. Moscow time," sources in the Dagestani Interior
Ministry told Itar-Tass. The investigation into the murder case is
underway.
A Dagestani police commando was killed in the village of Shamkhal
outside Makhachkala on the same day. He was shot down at 10.30 p.m. Moscow
time in the yard of his house, the police sources said.
The search operation for the killers is underway.
