Doha to Host First Regional Conference on ICC
Doha, May 08 (QNA) - Doha will host on May 24 - 25 the first regional conference on the International Criminal Court (ICC) in conjunction with the Arab League and cooperation with the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The conference, organized by the Public Prosecution Department is to highlight the importance of the relationship between the ICC and the Arab world as well as West Asia countries.
The conference aims to provide information on the modus operandi of the International Criminal Court Treaty of its establishment (known as the Rome Statute) and the legal framework, mechanisms that ensure the independence of the International Criminal Court as well as the policy of the Prosecutor's Office and how to promote the protection of rights in court proceedings.
The event also provides a platform to enable high-level delegations from the ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs and judicial systems of countries in the region as well as experts and academics to share and discuss issues of common interest through open and constructive dialogue.
Participants in the conference as well are related non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations and representatives of the legal profession from the region
The conference will be the first event of its kind to be organized in an Arab state featuring the Arab world and West Asia regions.
