BOC: 6 policemen11 terrorists killed, in the anti-terror prison incident
Baghdad (NINA) - Baghdad Operations Command, announced the death of 6 of the anti-terror forces, including Brigadier Mu’ayad Salih, and another officer, a lieutenant-colonel, in addition to the death of 11 convicts accused of involvement in the incident of the Church of Sayidat Al Najat in Baghdad, including the so-called (Wali) governor of Baghdad, Huthayfah Al Batawy, in the incident of the prison of anti-terror system.
The BOC spokesperson, Qasim Ata, said to NINA "one of the terrorists seized the weapon of one of the policemen who was taking him to an interrogation room where there were the investigation officers."
He added "other two terrorists seized two weapons, so, the number of weapons seized by terrorists became 3 weapons, and they opened fire killing 6 of the security forces."
Ata said "the 11 terrorists were killed in the incident, including the so-called Huthayfah Batawy the governor of Baghdad, who was arrested on November 27 of last year."
Ata announced that an investigation was opened about the incident, clarifying "there is a clear flaw in the escort operations and moving dangerous defendants."
He said "the situation is under control now, the incident ended at four o'clock in the morning."
Security source from Ministry of Interior told NINA that “a convict and was called for interrogation and he was escorted by a policeman, the convict managed to get the policeman’s gun and shot him dead.”
The source added that the convict entered into the interrogation room and killed Brigadier, director of Karrada Homicide and two other officers. As he was trying to flee he was killed by the guards of the ministry, another terrorist was wounding.
