Russian pop stars to take part in gala concert in St Petersburg
St PETERSBURG, May 8 (Itar-Tass) - Stars of Russian pop music and
guitar poetry, as well as drama and variety actors are expected to appear
on the stage of the Oktyabrsky concert hall here Sunday night in a special
event timed for the traditional VE-Day celebrations.
The list of performers features the Soviet-era pop song veteran Iosif
Kobzon, the internationally acclaimed Georgian singer of the lyrical
genre, Tamara Gverdciteli, singer-songwriter Alexander Rozenbaum, and
drama actor Vassily Lanovoy, known to the worldwide movie audiences for
his roles in the epic 'War and Peace' directed by Sergei Bondarchuk and
'Anna Karenina' by Alexander Zarkhi.
Veteran TV presenter Anna Shatilova, who was the face of Soviet
television from the early 1960's through to the beginning of the 1990's,
and popular actor Dmitry Pevtsov will take on the role of the masters of
ceremonies.
The gala show will be broadcast live by Channel 5 St Petersburg.
The program has a special entree - the Song and Dance Ensemble of
Russia's Western Military District. The performance will have a special
element in it - the display of new military uniforms designed by Russian
couturier Valentin Yudashkin.
