‘Regional governments should respond to people’s demands’

TEHRAN, May 8 (MNA) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has advised regional officials to adopt a “wise and far-sighted” policy on regional issues.

Mehmanparast made the remarks in response to the anti-Iranian remarks made by UAE Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi during the recent Joint Ministerial Meeting for Strategic Dialogue between Persian Gulf Cooperation Council States and China.

“Certain countries are trying to close their eyes to the realities in the region through making distracting remarks,” he said, adding, “What is going on in the region is people’s struggle for the realization of their legitimate demands and rights.”

But unfortunately, the governments are not responding to the people’s demands and are violently suppressing them, he said.

He also advised regional officials to adopt a “wise and far-sighted” policy to resolve the problems facing the region and to refrain from making “provocative” remarks.
