Situation along Thai-Cambodian border returning to normal

SI SA KET, May 7 (TNA) - The situation along the Thai-Cambodian border at Preah Vihear National Park in Kantaralak District of Thailand’s northeastern Si Sa Ket Province has been returning to normal, without any reported clash between Thai and Cambodian troops over the past few days.
Local people living along the common border in Si Sa Ket and nearby Surin Province have expressed their relief, in the wake of a new spate of crossfire which erupted April 22. Local farmers near the disputed frontier have reportedly begun seeding seasonal crops; while shops, including petrol stations, have now re-opened their businesses.
However, intensive patrols and safeguarding by Thailand's northeastern Suranari Task Force have remained at the entry to the Preah Vihear National Park, barring all civilian access.
Meanwhile, border crossing at Chong Sa-ngam permanent checkpoint in Si Sa Ket’s Phu Singh District has resumed since earlier this week, boosting travel and border trade on both sides following its recent closure due to the latest border rows. (TNA)
