Pro-Osama demos in Multan, US flag burnt
Multan, May 06, 2011 (PPI): A large number of activists of religious and other organizations including Jamaat Islami and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam staged two demonstrations in Multan city on Friday and burnt the US flag and demanded Pakistan government to stop supporting so-called US war on terror.
Muttahida Shehri Mahaz staged demonstration at Chungi No.9 under the leadership of Tariq Naeem-ullah Khan and Shahid Mehmood Khan, MPA of PML-N and burnt the US flag. Participants shouted slogans Down with America, Down with US allies, long live Osama.
JI and JUI demonstration was led by local clerics Rao Zafar Iqbal, Iftikhar Chaudhry, Khurshid Abbas Gardezi. JI leaders said USA had violated the sovereignty of key ally Pakistan by sending its own forces into the garrison town of Abbottabad to kill the al-Qaeda leader. Pakistan is taking part in war against terrorism and also fighting against the Taliban in Tribal areas and Afghanistan.
They demanded that Pakistan should withdraw from the war on terror as anti-American sentiment runs high in Pakistan.
Absentia funeral prayer was offered in Kot Adu by the religious parties after Friday prayers. Participants also shouted slogans in favour of Osama.
