Mohsin has no credibility: Sarfraz

Karachi, May 06, 2011 (PPI): Pakistan former Test cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz feels that calling a press briefing before announcing retirement and eventually resolving the issues with the board shows that chief selector Mohsin Hasan Khan did it only to blackmail the board.

“Mohsin only tried to blackmail the board and he never intended to resign as if he really wanted to resign then he should have resigned first and then called a press briefing like Abdul Qadir and Aamir Sohail did in the past,” Sarfraz told PPI.

“He used the media to put pressure on the board and it is highly immoral to do that,” he added.

He further said that Mohsin in the past has said that he would never compromise on principles and if anyone from the board tried to trample his principles then certainly he would resign immediately.

“I remember Mohsin in the past has said ‘By God I would resign then compromising on principles’. And recently I read that he said (Coach) Waqar Younis is destroying Pakistan cricket by not letting new talent to come forward. But now he has resolved the so-called issues with the board. It all shows that he has no credibility, he only cares about his salary,” Sarfraz said.

A PCB media release on Wednesday stated that the selector and the board have resolved their issues and it added that the board would not take any action against the selector.

Sarfraz Nawaz said that the board is also as pathetic as its chief selector Mohsin Khan.

“The board first said that it would take action against the selector for talking to media without seeking permission from the board. And then it said that it would take no action against the selector as the issue has been resolved. They did the same with players by pardoning them of their fines in the past. Isn’t there any standard, which the board follows?” he questioned.
