LAHORE, May 06, 2011 (PPI): Sialkot trounced Quetta 6-2 to reach the semifinal of the 3rd PHF Junior Super Hockey League being played at the National Hockey Stadium here on Friday. Multan, Lahore and Faisalabad have already reached into the semifinals.

From Sialkot Noraiz Zahid opened the goal in the 8th minute after receiving a pass in the circle. He made no mistake in netting the ball. Ali Raza scored a field goal in the 12th minute. M. Sabir scored a filed goal in the 17th minute. Sialkot were in comfortable position at 3-0 when Quetta’s Raheel reduced the margin through a beautiful field goal in the 19th minute.

Sialkot’s Sabir again dodged the defenders and neatly pushed the ball into the net in the 23rd minute. Just a minute before the interval Ali Butt scored the fifth goal on a penalty corner to end the first half at 5-1.

Quetta’s players demonstrated better stick-work in the second half. Their defenders also guarded their circle well as Sialkot could only make an inroad in the 57th minute to score the sixth goal by M. Faheem. Three minutes later M. Jamali of Quetta scored a field goal. Quetta players worked hard in the middle to reduce the margin further and made a couple of planned attacks but Sialkot defenders thwarted their attempts.

On May 7 (today) first semifinal will be played between Multan and Faisalabad while Sialkot and Lahore will play the second semifinal.
