Royal decree on House dissolution to be submitted to Thai King May 6

BANGKOK, May 6 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has confirmed that he will submit a royal decree on the dissolution of Thailand's House of Representatives to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej this Friday afternoon.

Abhisit told reporters that he will submit the royal decree for His Majesty the King's approval in a royal command before he departs for Jakarta to attend the 18th ASEAN summit, scheduled for May 7-8.

The Thai premier did not reveal the date for the country's new general election, saying only that he will hold a press conference on this issue when he returns from the Indonesian capital on May 9.

According to Thai laws, the prime minister can announce the dissolution of Thailand's Lower House once a royal decree on the House dissolution is endorsed by His Majesty the King in a royal command and a general election is then to be held within 45-60 days after the House dissolution. (TNA)
