Turkmenia, Uzbekistan agree to exchange trade missions.

ASHKHABAD (Itar-Tass) - Turkmenia and Uzbekistan agreed to
exchange trade missions and launch scientific and technical cooperation. A
corresponding agreement was signed on Thursday during an official two-day
visit of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov to Uzbekistan.
"The Republic of Uzbekistan is our important and reliable partner. Our
talks confirmed the readiness of both countries to promote positive
regional processes and encourage progress and prosperity. Turkmenistan and
Uzbekistan are resolute to actively cooperate in countering extremism,
trans-border organized crime, and drug trafficking," Berdymukhamedov said.
Uzbek President Islam Karimov noted "the closeness and commonness of
the positions of the parties practically on all discussed issues,
including those related to enhanced security and cooperation in the
region."
"Uzbekistan fully shares the position of Turkmenistan regarding the
settlement of the situation in Afghanistan exclusively by peaceful,
political and diplomatic means," he said.
Both presidents voiced support to assisting to the neighboring country
in the restoration of social and economic infrastructure.
They also highly assessed the five-party agreement signed in Ashkhabad
last month on the creation of a new transport and transit corridor
Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman-Qatar.
