FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS DR. TILLEMANN
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Foreign Affairs G.Zandanshatar received Wednesday Dr. Tomicah Tillemann, the Senior Advisor for Civil Society and Emerging Democracies to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to share views on transferring the responsibility of the Community of Democracies (CD) to Mongolia from 2011 and on further cooperation.
The Minister has noted Mongolia is consulting issues with its domestic organizations and foreign partners about priorities of rendering support to the democracy's education and formation of organizations of civil societies in frames of Mongolia's leadership of the CD, strengthening regional activities of the CD, developing collaboration, and sharing experiences with other countries in strengthening the democracy. He has thanked the U.S side for the confirmation to cooperate with Mongolia in these matters.
G.Zandanshatar has said Mongolia set up a national council led by the Premier to organize a leadership of the CD and a parliamentary group to communicate with the CD. The national council issued a working program and is doing a preparation for taking part in the Ministerial Meeting of Vilnius, he added.
In turn, Dr. Tillemann has spoken about his meeting with state authorities, parliamentarians and representatives of civil societies, and expressed his satisfaction with finding out great opportunities to boost the bilateral cooperation within the CD.
The Minister Zandanshatar has been appointed the deputy head of the National committee for the CD's leadership, whereas Dr. Tillemann has been working as an advisor to the U.S Secretary of State on civil society and new democratic nations' affairs. By the way, Mongolia will take the CD's leadership from the Republic of Lithuania in June this year.
Present at the meeting were G.Batjargal, a director of the Foreign Ministry's Department of Strategic Planning, Information and Monitoring; Jonathan Addleton, the U.S Ambassador to Mongolia; and other officials.
