People rally to show support for royal Thai monarchy

BANGKOK, May 5 (TNA) - Local people in several provinces organised mass rallies on Thursday to show their support for the royal Thai monarchy.
In Thailand's northeastern Buri Ram Province, for instance, House Speaker Chai Chidchob led more than 10,000 provincial authorities, residents and volunteers to join a rally, which was then divided into four groups to march separately from all four corners of the heart of the city with a portrait of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Thailand's national flag. The four groups reassembled at the Monument of His Majesty King Rama I the Great--where they took oaths of loyalty to the royal Thai monarchy and to pray for His Majesty the King's quick recovery from a minor operation last Monday night.
In the central Singburi Province, a number of people joined a mass Buddhist prayer and singing of a royal anthem at a provincial conference hall to pay tribute to His Majesty the King and to show their support for the royal Thai monarchy.
In the northeastern Yasothon Province, people gathered at a provincial public park to join a merit making and to pay tribute to His Majesty the King in front of a royal portrait--where local volunteers also took their oaths to protect and uphold the most revered royal Thai institution. (TNA)
