Mayahi: equipment used in Iraq for cancer treatment internationally banned since 1980

Baghdad (NINA) – MP from the White Iraqiya Slate, Aziz Sharif Al Mayahi, called on Ministry of Health to "the establishment of modern hospitals to treat cancer patients and scrap the old devices as they were banned internationally since 1980."

He said in a statement on Wednesday "the cancer patient has to wait for his turn which is determined by a government hospital for check and treatment by worn devices that are too old and exist only in Iraq. This waiting is certainly going to take several months, during which the patient may die before he had a chance in treatment."

He added "an urgent need to open specialized hospitals in the provinces equipped with modern devices to treat cancer, especially since the majority of the world countries achieved major successes in the treatment of this disease and with the latest advanced methods."

He continued "if the Ministry of Health budget cannot cover expenses, it can use the help of foreign companies to build and equip hospitals and pay them on the on credit system.”
