SOWING TO BE DONE ON SOME 300 THOUSAND HECTARES
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry T.Badamjunai introduced Tuesday to the cabinet sowing and harvesting works of this year.
According to him, grain will be sowed on 281.2 thousand hectares, of which wheat--on 276.5 thousand hectares, potatoes--on 13.9 thousand hectares, vegetables--on 7.4 thousand hectares, and fodder plants--on 12.6 thousand hectares.
This autumn, the country intends to harvest 388.1 tons of grain, 188 thousand tons potatoes, 94.8 thousand tons vegs, and 36.9 thousand tons fodder plants. Thus the domestic harvest will be able to provide the country's needs in potatoes and wheat at 100 per cent, and vegetables--at 60 per cent. It has been planned to prepare high quality ploughed lands on 280 thousand hectares.
At the cabinet meeting, the Agricultural Minister also gave a report on preparation for giving sterilization substances and fertilizers in loan forms to enterprisers and citizens to have them improved a quality of harvest and combated pests.
