Malaysian man sentenced for attempted murder

HCM City (VNA) - The Ho Chi Minh City People's Court on Sept. 3
sentenced Wong Mok Jee, a Malaysian man, seven years in prison for attempted murder.

The court found Wong Mok Jee guilty of injuring four people, including his
Vietnamese partner Huynh Thi Huong and her elder brother Huynh Van Dung.

According to the court, businessman Wong lived with Huynh Thi Huong as a
couple since he came to Ho Chi Minh City for service business in 2001.
However, Wong often had family and business conflicts with Huong's elder
brother Dung.

Early in the morning of March 13, 2007 when Huong's family was deep in
sleep, Wong beat Dung unconscious with a hammer. When discovered by the
family, he turned to stab Huong and two other witnesses Tran Thi Trang Ly
and Luu Thi Diep Hong.

According to the municipal forensic appraisal centre, Dung lost 25 percent
of his heath and Hong lost 12 percent of her health from this
tragedy.-Enditem
