RI`S 'KRI HASANUDDIN' TO JOIN INT'L WARSHIP PARADE IN S KOREA
Jakarta, Sept 3 (ANTARA) - An Indonesian warship, the "KRI Hasanuddin", is scheduled to take part in an International Fleet Review (IFR) to be held in Busan, South Korea, on October 5 - 10, 2008, an Indonesian military spokesman said.
"KRI Hasanuddin is a corvette in the Sigma class which joined the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) only in September last year," TNI Headquarters Spokesman Commodore Iskandar Sitompul told ANTARA here on Tuesday.
He said the KRI Hasanuddin would leave Indonesia for South Korea to take part in the international parade on September 23 and return to Indonesia on October 25, 2008.
The South Korean Navy will host the IFR event in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of South Korea's armed forces. About 50 warships from 13 countries will take part in the international warship parade which will carry the motto: "All in One to the Sea, To the World."
Parallel with the warship parade, a Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS) will be held to discuss security matters and maritime cooperation among the 24 participating countries.
The event will also be highlighted by a maritime and defense exhibition or MADEX 2008.
