Paraguay expresses condolences over death of Russian ambassador

BUENOS AIRES, May 3 (Itar-Tass) -- Paraguay's government has expressed
its condolences over the death of Russian ambassador to that country Igor
Yezhov. A letter to this effect was sent by Paraguayan Foreign Minister
Jorge Lara Castro to his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
"The Russian ambassador to Paraguay, Igor Yezhov died suddenly on May
1," minister-councellor of the Russian embassy in Asuncion Sergei
Reshchikov told Itar-Tass over the phone on Tuesday.
In its letter of condolences, the Paraguayan foreign ministry said the
country "highly appreciates the work done by the first Russian ambassador
to strengthen relations between the two nations."
Russia and Paraguay established diplomatic relations on May 14, 1992.
Russia opened its diplomatic mission on December 23, 2008. Igor Yezhov was
Russia's first ambassador to Paraguay.
