Iraqi Journalists Syndicate denounces assault on Al Hurra TV correspondent
Baghdad (NINA) - Iraqi Journalists Syndicate denounced the assault against Al Hurra correspondent Omar Muhammad today in Palestine Street by unidentified gunmen riding in a taxi and opened fire with silenced weapons on his car, Omar barely escaped.
The Syndicate said in a statement on Monday "this cowardly act comes as part of series of targeting of Iraqi journalists who are performing professionally and neutrally to convey facts to the public.”
The Syndicate demanded the security services to "activate their procedures to capture the offenders and killers of journalists,” reminding of the need to quickly pass the law of journalists protection, which provides a secure atmosphere for the press work in Iraq.
