AAP-April,30-Star forward Jack Riewoldt kicked five goals as Richmond scored a 26-point win over the winless Brisbane Lions at the MCG.
Richmond trailed by five points just before three-quarter time but steadied to claim the 18.16 (124) to 14.14 (98) victory before a crowd of 37,438.
Nathan Foley and Dustin Martin had a combined 75 possessions to dominate midfield for the Tigers, who have turned their season around with two wins in the past two weeks.
Small forwards Robin Nahas and Jake King were inspirational with three goals each for the Tigers.
Brownlow Medallist Simon Black (34 touches) gave another classy display in midfield for Brisbane and Luke Power kicked four goals.
Brisbane kicked five goals in the opening term to Richmond's four to hold a six-point advantage at quarter-time.
The Tigers lifted their work rate to dominate the second quarter, slamming on 5.3 to Brisbane's four behinds to lead by 23 points at halftime.
Martin controlled the midfield and Riewoldt kicked three goals for the first half while King contributed two majors in the second term.
Riewoldt's third goal came on the halftime siren from 50 metres out, thrilling the MCG crowd.
Richmond midfielder Shane Tuck left the field early in the second quarter clutching his ribs and was replaced by substitute player Ben Nason midway through the term.
The Tigers led by 27 points early in the second half but the Lions turned to veteran crumber Power who kicked three of Brisbane's seven goals in the third term.
Daniel Rich's 50-metre goal with two minutes left in the third quarter put the Lions five points ahead.
But two late goals, one from Riewoldt and another as Riewoldt handballed to Nahas, ensured the Tigers some breathing space with an eight-point break at three-quarter time.
Ben Nason's second goal 16 minutes into the last quarter put the Tigers 26 points ahead and Riewoldt's fifth two minutes later made it officially party time.
The Tigers, growing in confidence, outscored Brisbane 4.8 to 2.2 in the final term.
Riewoldt leads the AFL goalkicking tally with 21 from six rounds.
Brisbane face Gold Coast at the Gabba next Saturday night in the first derby between the two Queensland AFL teams.
