Thoen fault remains inactive, says Thai mineral resources authority

LAMPANG, April 30 (TNA) - A survey conducted recently found that the Thoen fault in northern Thailand remained inactive.
Somboon Khositanont, Director of the Mineral Resources Regional Office 1, which supervises 17 northern Thai provinces, spoke of the latest survey in his response to serious concerns voiced by villagers in Thoen District of Thailand's northern Lampang Province over possible earthquakes from the Thoen fault, one of five major faults in Thailand's upper North.
Somboon said that, unlike Mae Chan, Mae Hong Son and Pua faults, the Thoen fault remains inactive, and that people should not panic because officials concerned have regularly surveyed faults for precaution and public safety. (TNA)
