Kyrgyz migrants find jobs mostly in Moscow, Siberia, Ural regions

BISHKEK, April 29 (Itar-Tass) - Most labour migrants from Kyrgyzstan
have found jobs in the Central Federal District, in particular in Moscow
and the Moscow Region, as well as in the Ural and Siberian Federal
Districts, a Kyrgyz government source cited Minister of Labour, Migration
and Employment Almazbek Abytov as saying on Friday at the forum on "Labour
Migration from Kyrgyzstan to the RF, the Situation, Problems and
Prospects" held in the city of Osh.
As the minister said, the Russian regions accounted for 45 percent of
all the labour migrants from Kyrgyzstan. According to the preliminary
estimates, a total of up to 500,000 Kyrgyz citizens work in Russia at
present,
At the same time, Abytov noted that his compatriots mostly had to work
illegally and because of this to do low-paid work.
About 60,000-80,000 Kyrgyz citizens are looking for jobs in Russia,
the minister said.
Many compatriots do not know Russian customs and traditions and
therefore ignore registration. As a result, they have hard work. However,
it does not prevent them from regularly sending money to the native land
to support their families.
Abytov said labour migrants from Kyrgyzstan transferred 1.16 billion
dollars through the bank systems last year.
According to the Russian information, mainly residents from southern
Kyrgyz regions go to Russia to earn money. About 80 percent of the
migrants from Kyrgyzstan are natives of the republic's southern regions,
head of the Russian presidential department for international and cultural
ties with foreign countries Sergei Vinokurov noted at the meeting.
In his words, labour migrants are one of the Russian economic
development factors. So, appropriate Russian services must create
favourable conditions for them to work in the country, the official noted.
Deputy head of the Russian Federal Migration Service Anatoly Kuznetsov
said in Osh that labour migrants from Kyrgyzstan worked almost in all the
regions of the federation, including at Olympic construction sites. At the
same time, Kuznetsov urged Kyrgyz citizens to observe all the requirements
for staying in Russia, as it is practically impossible to protect rights
of illegal migrants, he noted.
