Southernmost province cares for poor ethnic minority people

Ca Mau (VNA) - Southernmost Ca Mau province has started a 70 billion VND programme to allocate land for housing and production, and generate jobs for poor ethnic minority people that will last until 2010.

In 2008, the province will spend 11 billion VND to build around 690
houses, allocate 520 ha of land for production, finance poor families to redeem their mortgaged land, and supply fresh water for them.

The province now has nearly 4,700 poor ethnic minority households, of them 2,586 families having no land for housing, and 3,600 having no land for production.

With the programme, Ca Mau targets to have 100 percent of local ethnic minority households allocated with land for housing, 80 percent provided with land for production, and 50 percent of labourers with vocational training and stable jobs.-Enditem
