Minor earthquake reported at Kuril island
VLADIVOSTOK, April 29 (Itar-Tass) -- An earthquake of 4.4 magnitude
was registered overnight in the Sea of Okhotsk close to the uninhabited
Kuril Island of Simushir, the Russian Geophysical Service reported.
It said the focus of the quake was located at a depth of 180
kilometers under the seabed and 300 kilometers northwest of the city of
Kurilsk on the Iturup Island or 652 kilometers southwest of Severo-Kurilsk
on Paramushir Island.
There were no tremors in the cities.
