KSU awards Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques honorary doctorate
Riyadh, September 02 , SPA -- King Saud University has awarded the
degree of honorary doctorate to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques
King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in recognition of his great
accomplishments in the field of higher education and his directives
for promotion and enhancement of higher education.
This was announced by the Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid
bin Mohammed Al-Angari who appraised the King unlimited support to
enhance the performance of higher education and build its future to
serve the nation, citizens and the leadership.
The Minister thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King
Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his kind acceptance of this
honorary degree which reflects the deep appreciation and gratitude
for the generous support and sponsorship of the march of higher
education in this country.
He stressed that the attention of the Custodian of the Two Holy
Mosques to higher education is crowned with tangible achievements in
his reign where 9 new universities have been established in a number
of areas which in turn contributed along with the existing
universities to the distribution of higher education in about 75
governorates.
In addition to that, the King's achievements include royal approval
to establish a number of universities campuses, establishment of King
Abdullah University of Science and Technology and the adoption of
the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques the program of foreign
scholarship which is the largest national programme for human
resource development and the king's support to finance the
establishment of research centers in the field of Nanotechnology as
well as encouragement of scientists and inventors and honoring them
with awards and medals.
The Minister of Higher Education said, " King Saud University's
appreciation to grant honorary doctorate to the Custodian of the Two
Holy Mosques is a recognition of his achievements and reflection of
his care as well as the Crown Prince's care to the education march
in general in this country and to its prosperity so as to optimize
preparation for eligible generations to serve their religion, the
King and their country at full extent.
For his part, the Rector of King Saud University Dr. Abdullah Bin
Abdulrahman Al-Othman considered the royal acceptance of an honorary
doctorate as an honor to King Saud University and it is a medal of
honor in recognition of its national role from the King who has paid
sincere care and attention to higher education sector.
He said," The care and attention of The Custodian of the Two Holy
Mosques are reflected in the tremendous expansion in university
education to include all regions of the Kingdom. It is also shown in
the full support and promotion of scientific research and
applications of nanotechnology. It is obvious in honoring faculty
researchers who obtained patents of King Abdulaziz Order of excellent
and first grade."
Dr. Al-Othman said that the acceptance of the honorary doctorate by
the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques will strengthen the national
mission of this university and will enable it to achieve global
leadership worthy of the name of the Kingdom. And with this great
moral support from the king to the university, it has played a
pivotal role in national development through its contribution to the
establishment of five universities in the regions of the Kingdom.
The director of King Saud University expressed his sincere
thanks and gratitude on behalf of King Saud University to the
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for
acceptance of the honorary doctorate, which recognizes the King's
achievements in the care of higher education and scientific research

received by the University and other universities in the Kingdom
enabling them to achieve global leadership which in turn contributes
to the transformation of knowledge-based society and the national
