Kazakhstan insists on SCO agreement against illegal migration
ASTANA, April 28 (Itar-Tass) - Kazakhstan insists on the early inking
of an agreement on cooperation against illegal migration by members of the
Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Kazakhstan's Interior Minister
Kalmukhanbet Kasymov said at a session of interior and public security
ministers of the SCO countries on Thursday.
Kazakhstan's national SCO coordiantor Shakhrat Nuryshev said on the
sidelines of the session, "Kazakhstan initiated this project three years
ago and now the interior minister voiced it once again."
Nuryshev said illegal migration posed serious problems to his country.
Kazakhstan is interested in the further promotion and adjustment of this
project.
"Its signing is important for all SCO countries to resist illegal
migration, which helps criminals infiltrate into their territories,"
Nuryshev said.
The exact dates when the agreement might be singed have not been made
public so far, but Nuryshev believes this will be done the near future.
