New award to honour excellent students

Hanoi (VNA) - As many as 1,480 senior secondary students who won
international and national prizes and made excellent results in the last school-year have been selected for the first ever national award.

They include 22 gold and silver medal winners at international Olympics, 1,290 top students of senior secondary schools nationwide, 127 students who came first at university entry exams, 39 students who won the first prizes at national exams for excellent students, and two students being members of teams for international exams.

The presentation ceremonies are scheduled to be held in Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City and central Da Nang city on Sept. 6-7, 13-14, and 21-22, respectively.

The award, named "Hoa Trang Nguyen", is sponsored by the Ministry of
Education and Training, the Party Central Committee's Commission for
Information and Education, the HCM Communist Youth Union, the Union of Non-State Universities and Colleges, and the Tan Tao Group.

As from 2008, the award presentation will become an annual event to honour top students from over 2,000 senior secondary schools and 135 universities nationwide.-Enditem
