Number of wildfires in Siberia decreases

KRASNOYARSK, April 28 (Itar-Tass) -- The number of wildfires in
Siberia has decreased from 57 to 46 in the past 24 hours. A spokesman for
the Siberian regional emergencies centre told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
According to the spokesman, the overall area of wildfires reduced from
844.9 to 788.3 hectares. As many as nine wildfires on an area of 372
hectares were contained.
"Whilst the number of wildfires and their area has decreased in the
Baikal territory, the republic of Buryatia and Novosibirsk region by
Thursday morning, the area of wildfires in the republic of Tuva has grown
to 340 hectares. In the Krasnoyarsk territory wildfires are still ravaging
on an area of 216 hectares, and on an area of 141 hectares in the Irkutsk
region," the spokesman noted.
Fire fighting operations involve 481 men and 60 pieces of hardware.
