AZERBAIJAN PRESIDENT RECEIVES ANTARA NEWS AGENCY CHIEF
Baku, Sept 2 (ANTARA) - President Director of Antara News Agency Ahmad Mukhlis Yusuf had a meeting with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev at his presidential palace, here, to discuss the need of the media in the Asia and Pacific region to strongly voice their interest to the international community.
As president of the Organization of Asia Pacific News Agencies (OANA), Mukhlis in the company of his deputy editor-in-chief Ahmad Husaeni said that OANA was ready to offset the domination of western news agencies in publishing international issues.
OANA has 41 member news agencies from 33 countries, and Mukhlis was in Azerbaijan to preside over the 29th meeting of the OANA central executive board.
President Aliyev put emphasis on the importance of independent coverage. The mass media should be free in voicing the truth. Differences in opinion is okay, but media reports need to be accurate.
