Business-(Govt failed to overcome energy crisis: S. Ali Raza)

RAWALPINDI, April 26, 2011 (PPI): President the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) S. Ali Raza Saeed Shah has said that country is facing huge electricity crunch of the history. Shortfall increased to 6000MW and industry is almost destroyed owing to the said shortfall. Government failed to overcome the energy crunch from the last three years.

He was addressing during the Executive Committee meeting here on Tuesday. Senior Vice President Mian Muhammad Ateeq, Vice President Dr. Shimail Daud and other members of the Committee were also present on the occasion.

President RCCI said that recent worst energy crisis destroyed the national industry and things were going on as government was mulling to increase the prices of petroleum products by next month. Business community was planning to reduce the trade deficit but it is hard to run the industry in the prevailing situation.

Ali Raza said that it is beyond comprehension that why the government was not accepted the China and Iran’s offer of providing electricity on cheaper rates and why focusing on rental power plants of electricity generation.

He demanded of the government to early completion of the Thar Coal project to fill full the energy requirements of the country. He said that government must make arrangements to proper utilize of the installed capacity of energy resources in the country.
