White Paper on Mind-set of South Koreans Released

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- The National Reunification Institute on Monday released a white paper on the mind-set of the south Korean people critical of the regime.
People of different social standings in south Korea described the past three years of the office of the present authorities as "a period they spent in horror and anxiety," the white paper, noted, and went on:
South Korean media were unanimous in deploring that they were "a nightmarish period which brought a crisis in democracy, economic crisis of common people and a crisis in the inter-Korean relations", "a period of disgrace and shame", "a period of incompetency, mendicancy and international shame" and "a hellish period during which people lost their hopes.
The south Korean professors' organizations said: "The south Korean society is now in the grip of the extreme crisis due to the present regime's self-righteousness and arbitrariness. Democracy achieved at the cost of blood exists only in name. The south-north relations have stepped back to those before June 25, far from making a step forward towards reunification".
The dissident organizations in south Korea labeled the authorities "a regime violating democracy and killing common people", "a regime disregarding the people" and "an intransigent regime".
An opinion poll was made on the three years of its office. 74.6 percent of its respondents said they do not believe the policy of the authorities while 81.3 percent of the respondents predicted that the present regime would not be able to settle the economic crisis.
