Chiang Mai to host grand celebration of Lin Ping’s second birthday

CHIANG MAI, April 27 (TNA) - Prasertsak Bunntrakulpunthawi, head of the panda research and display section of Chiang Mai Zoo, has revealed that Chiang Mai province is preparing to host a grand celebration for Lin Ping’s second birthday between May 27th and 29th.

Regarding the possible extension of the 2-month old panda's stay in Thailand, Prasertsak said Chinese authorities are now reviewing the paperwork for an agreement to lend the panda to the Kingdom for 2 more years.

He also said that, at present, Lin Ping is healthy and becoming more mature, noting that she has a good sense of smell, particularly for her favorite fruits; such as apples.
Furthermore, Prasertsak reaffirmed that a new round of an artificial insemination on a female panda, Lin Hui, has been completed with high hopes for success and that an ultrasound exam is expected next month to confirm her pregnancy.

He then added that he is very confident the zoo will succeed in producing another baby panda. (TNA)
