Chiang Mai's private sector voices concerns over Thai-Cambodian border clashes

CHIANG MAI, April 27 (TNA) - The private sector in Thailand's northern Chiang Mai Province has expressed its concerns over conditions at the Thai-Cambodian border.

Narong Kongprasert, chief of Chiang Mai’s chamber of commerce office, urged the Thai government to make swift bilateral coordination to resolve unsettled demarcation rows along the Thai and Cambodian border and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to take on a mediator role, if necessary.

Narong insisted that ASEAN’s involvement should be viewed as the best alternative among members, not as intervention, noting that the advance will further solidify the 10-nation bloc for years to come. (TNA)
