Putin arrives in Sweden for working visit
STOCKHOLM, April 27 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir
Putin, upon completing his trip to Denmark, arrived in Sweden early
Wednesday for a working visit.
While in Stockholm, Putin is to meet with Carl XYI Gustaf, the King of
Sweden, as well as hold talks with his Swedish counterpart Fredrik
Reinfeldt. As a result of bilateral talks, the sides are to sign joint
documents. The two Premiers are then to give a news conference.
During the visit, which will last less than five hours, the Russian
Premier also intends to talk with Swedish businessmen over breakfast.
It is expected that emphasis during the upcoming talks will be laid on
cooperation in the field of green technologies, in which the Swedes are
traditionally in the lead.
According to Yuri Ushakov, deputy head of the RF government staff,
said earlier that during the visit the sides must make a decision on the
establishment of a Russian-Swedish Business Council, which will be headed
from the RF side by VEB Chairman Vladimir Dmitriyev. It will also include
such major companies, well-known and working in Russia, as Volvo, Scania,
IKEA, Oriflame, ABB, Tetra Pak and others.
It is also expected that the Russian Skolkovo innovation town will get
a new resident - the Ericsson Company - which plans to open its research
and development centre there. The sides also plan to sign a declaration on
partnership for modernisation, designed to give an impetus to more
intensive cooperation in the high technology sphere.
