JAKARTA POLICE ARREST BIG-TIME DRUG DEALAER
Jakarta, Sept 2 (ANTARA) - Jakarta police's anti-drug unit on Monday night arrested a big-time drug dealer identified by his initials as Bud, and confiscated thousands of ecstasy pills, a fire arm and 10 rounds of ammunition from him, a spokesman said.
The anti-drug police officers arrested Bud on Pangeran Jayakarta street after receiving information from several suspects who had been arrested earlier, Jakarta Police Information Officer Senior Commissioner Ketut Untung Yoga said here Tuesday.
From Bud, the police seized 4,676 ecstasy pills, 2,740 sedative pills, two grams of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine), a fire arm and 10 rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle.
Another suspect with nine ecstasy pills, identified by his initial as L, was arrested earlier at a night club on Cikini street in Central Jakarta.
L said he got the ecstasy pills from two other suspects, V and AS, who stayed in a rented house on Pangeran Jayakarta street in West Jakarta.
Then the police arrested V and AS with 29 ecstasy pills with them and finally arrested Bud, the big-time drug dealer.
Meanwhile, it was reported from Banyumas district, Central Java, that the local police had also arrested two suspected drug dealers and seized 50 kilograms of marijuana from them.
"We succeeded in arresting the two suspected drug dealers who have been a target of our operations for the past two months," Banyumas District Police Chief Sernior Commissioner Hari Prasodjo said in Purwokerto Tuesday,
The suspects were identified as Tufhiman alias Iman (32), a resident of Tanjung village, Jati lawang sub district, and Bayu Ismoyo Jarti (24) of Kobar village, Purwokerto sub district, Banyumas district.
"Iman was arrested in Tunjung village, and Bayu in Windunegara village. They said they had obtained the marijuana from a wholesale dealer in Jakarta," Prasodjo said.
The two suspects were believed to be members of a drug trafficking syndicate operating in Banyumas district, he said, adding that police confiscated 50 kilograms of marijuana from Iman, and 250 kilograms of the same drug, in addition to Rp600,000 in cash, from Jarti.
Prasodjo said the fact that Iman and Jarti were picked up in villages was an indication drug traffickcrs had shifted their operations from urban to rural areas.
