Chapman has wow factor, says Scott

Chris Scott admits that in his playing days he never scaled the heights of Geelong's big-game specialist Paul Chapman.
And now as Geelong's first-year coach, Scott looks on from the box and says "wow".
The 179cm powerhouse Chapman kicked three goals in a 23-possession game on Tuesday before 78,579 fans at the MCG as the Cats beat Hawthorn by 19 points.
For Chapman, the 2009 Norm Smith Medallist, it was just another day at the office, a new opportunity to rise above the pressure of the big occasion and show his class.
Trailing by eight points at halftime, the Cats kicked seven goals to Hawthorn's four in the third term, sparked by a long bomb from Chapman in the fourth minute of the half.
Scott, who played in two Brisbane premiership sides, says Chapman just loves the big stage.
"I go 'wow', I do it with a few of our guys," Scott said after the second-placed Cats improved their record to 5-0 this season.
"I really admire players who do the things I could never do, so there were about 22 of them at the moment.
"You can almost see when Chappy gets the ball in his hands, he pauses for a little bit, to almost draw the attention on him that little bit more.
"Because he honestly believes he's the best person to have the ball, because he's going to kick the goal.
"We all admire those sort of people. It's not over-confidence, he has faith in his ability and he rarely lets you down."
Chapman, who also had a game-high 10 tackles, says the Cats are taking baby steps towards being in a position to improve on their preliminary-final finish of last year.
"It took us a while to get used to the game plan," Chapman told AAP.
"In the first couple of weeks we were lucky to win.
"Since then each week we have taken small steps towards getting to where we need to be.
"Collingwood are the team to beat but we're trying to chip away at our game plan and get it right.
"We know that we're right in the ball game if we do these things right."
Two-time premiership player Chapman praised Geelong's defence, led by 250-gamer Matthew Scarlett.
"He's a great guy. He demands a lot from his team-mates but he demands a lot from himself too," Chapman said.
"He's an inspiration. He's just a great player.
"He's definitely a leader at our footy club. When he opens his mouth, everyone listens."
