RF, SRV striving to build up bilateral cooperation-FM

HANOI, April 26 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia and Vietnam confirm their
striving to strengthen and build up comprehensive cooperation between the
two countries, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Borodavkin said in
an interview with ITAR-TASS summing up the results of a three-day working
visit to Hanoi which ended on Monday.
The Russian deputy foreign minister was staying here to participate in
the Russian-Vietnamese consultations at the level of deputy foreign
ministers. These meetings, according to Borodvkin, were devoted to issues
of development of cooperation between the countries and discussion of
regional and international topical problems.
"We had a detailed talk with Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Bui
Thanh Son. The consultations revealed the coincidence of our states'
approaches on all issues we touched upon and confirmed mutual wish to
further build up comprehensive cooperation between Russia and Vietnam in
the foreign policy, trade, economic, investment, scientific, technological
and humanitarian fields, including culture, education and tourism," the
deputy foreign minister said.
In the context of trade and economic cooperation, as Borodavkin said,
the sides spoke out in favour of increasing bilateral trade turnover.
"According to the results of last year, we reached the level of trade
turnover equal to two billion dollars, by 2012, the leadership of our
countries set the task of increasing the volume of trade up to three
billion dollars, and by 2020 - - up to 10 billion dollars. These are big
figures, but we and our Vietnamese partners believe that it is possible to
cope with these tasks. Now we have on the agenda big joint economic
projects which will make it possible to bring Russian-Vietnamese trade and
economic partnership to a new, higher level," the Russian deputy foreign
minister stressed.
