NICOL TOPS SQUASH WORLD RANKING FOR 26TH SUCCESSIVE MONTH

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- National squash queen Nicol David has topped the Women's International Squash Players Association (WISPA) rankings for the 26th successive month.

The 24-year-old from Penang has rewritten the record of five-time world
champion Sarah Fitz-Gerald of Australia who topped the WISPA rankings for 24
consecutive months, from November 1996 to October 1998, and went on to achieve a
total of 40 months as world number one before retiring five years ago.

In this year's WISPA World Tour, Nicol continues to set a sterling pace,
winning six major titles -- the Marsh Apawamis Open, CIMB KL Open, Dunlop
British Open, Seoul City Open, CIMB Malaysian Open and CIMB Singapore Masters.

In the latest rankings released today on the WISPA website, Nicol has
accumulated an average of 2,940.588 points to top the 241 players. Australian
Rachael Grinham (1,858.048) and Dutch Natalie Grinham (1,842.941) are ranked
second and third, respectively.

Other Malaysian players ranked are Sharon Wee (22nd), Delia Arnold (36th),
Tricia Chuah (43rd), Lim Yole Wah (51st), Low Wee Wern (54th), Siti Munirah
Jusop (61st), Pushppa Devi (82nd), Tan Yan Xin (83rd), Nessrine Ariffin (94th),
Zulhijjah Azan (104th), Kuan Choy Lin (121st), Wei Lin Hooi (130th), Nabilla
Ariffin (163rd), and Jo Ann Jee (192nd).
