Sharifi: Mullen’s statements about keeping US forces in Iraq reflect defeat
Baghdad (NINA) – MP from the National Alliance-Ahrar Bloc, Hussein Al Sharifi, said the statements aired by Admiral Mike Mullen, American Chief of Staff, in which he hinted to the possibility of keeping American forces in Iraq, as statements aiming at disturbing security in the country.
In a statement to NINA, Sharifi added “Mullen’s statements reflect the Americans’ bankruptcy and size of defeat they had; it is a pretext for an extension of their stay in Iraq.”
“We will not allow any extension to the American forces in Iraq after 2011,” Sharifi went on saying.
Mullen said last week, in press statements, that the US is ready to keep its forces after 2011 in case the Iraqi government officially requested that. /End/
