Nujeifi stresses on the necessity of protecting human rights
Baghdad (NINA) – parliament speaker, Osama al Nujeifi, stressed the necessity of protecting human rights and supporting NGOs work in the society.
A statement issued by Nujeifi’s office quoted him as saying “the parliament is serious in working on guarantees of human rights, freedom of expression, access of information, and decent living under constitutional regulations.
He added, during a symposium held under his sponsorship in Parliament HQ about NGOs role in protecting freedoms, “human rights are a living creature that cannot grow unless in a healthy environment. It is a great challenge; finding such environment at the time of the bad results of the political process, like sectarian quota which created partisan quota, which in part created personal quota.”
He stressed that this made corrupt figures assume decision making posts, a matter that wasted chances for progress, construction and development.
